A 55-year-old male presented with insulin-resistance syndrome. His previous medical history included squamous cell carcinoma in the throat. He was currently on a vegetarian diet which was high in simple carbohydrates. Although he was drinking 2L of water every day, he was also consuming 3 – 4 beers every night.
His current weight was 132.3kg, and he presented with a typical “beer belly”. In terms of his blood tests, his fasting blood sugars were 8.4 and his cholesterol triglycerides were steadily increasing. His kidney and liver function were currently normal. He was constantly feeling lethargic, grumpy and thirsty and unhappy about the fact that his weight was not shifting. |
Treatment
His treatment plan consisted of dietary changes and supplements. He was advised to remove simple carbohydrates and exchange them for complex carbohydrates instead. In terms of the supplements he was prescribed the following: • 1 x scoop twice daily • 1 x tablet three times per day Magnesium at night* |
Outcome
Within 10 days the patient experienced a 4 kg weight loss and had gone down 1 size in jeans. He had more energy at this stage and his blood sugars were down to 7.2. After 6 weeks he had lost 12 kg and his energy was significantly improved. His interest in food had declined and he no longer constantly craved food. Accordingly, his appetite had also reduced and he was consuming smaller meals. The Lipotroplex had most likely helped reduce his cravings and increased his feelings of satiety. He is steadily losing weight and although he still enjoys a beer or wine on the weekend it is not impacting his health. He will continue to take the Lipotroplex until his target weight has been achieved *Find out more about RN Labs magnesium range here: • Magnesium Citrate |
