A 30 year old male diagnosed with ADHD sought alternative methods to manage his symptoms without medication. His concerns included fatigue, decreased motivation, poor concentration, and impulsivity, which led to stepping away from his own business. He was previously on Vyvanse but felt the benefits had waned over time. Notably, he was not someone who previously had issues with concentration and focus – so it was hard for him to accept he truly had ADHD.
He lived with his wife and infant child, and his job included long-term toxin exposure. Diet was very healthy and included no alcohol or caffeine, although protein distribution throughout the day was poor – patient was a pescatarian.
The patient’s weight was stable, and he exercised regularly.

Treatment
After his first visit, his naturopath added the following to his daily regime: • Nordic Naturals Pro Omega
• RN Labs CDP-Choline Powder
• Basic multi mineral/B Vitamin support
• Encouraged optimal protein intake and distribution throughout the day.
Tests Run: Previous blood tests with GP showed normal results.
Further tests were then conducted with his naturopath, including screening gluten and other major food allergies – which came back normal apart from a low free testosterone. He also completed a DUTCH Plus test, which revealed:
• Low afternoon/evening cortisol
• Low methylation
• High pyroglutamate
• High indican
• Elevated oxidative stress
The patient received further nutritional interventions and supplements, with an emphasis on protein intake and distribution.
This included: • RN Labs Andro Fortify
• Magnesium and glycine for sleep
• Adrenal nutrient and herbal formula
• Spore-based probiotic

Outcome
Two months after the initial appointment, the patient reported some minor improvements. One month later, marked improvements were noted, including reduced “mind chatter,” increased energy, and notable weight and muscle gain. Repeat blood testing showed increased free testosterone. The patient continues with the holistic treatment plan, with a follow-up scheduled in a month. This case demonstrates the efficacy of a comprehensive approach in managing ADHD symptoms, addressing underlying factors, and emphasizes the importance of DUTCH test results in guiding the intervention. It also highlights the link between suboptimal free testosterone and ADHD symptoms.
