Case Study: Magnesium and Epilepsy

A 12-year-old female patient presented with a rare form of epilepsy which led to seizures occurring 2 – 5 times per day.

The patient was prescribed a number of different forms of Magnesium, including Magnesium Glycinate and Magnesium Citrate, but for the current consultation, was prescribed a form of Magnesium that was specific for brain function and had the ability to cross the blood-brain barrier:

Magnesium Threonate

• 50mg once per day

The patient noticed a considerable reduction in her seizures and has increased her dose to 50mg twice a day. The presence of Mycotoxins had also been identified in this patient and further treatment options were being considered.
