Case Study: Supporting Weight Loss Goals and General Health Management in Subclinical Hypothyriodism

A 71 year old female patient who had been seeing a practitioner for some time, was starting to experience dieting fatigue. She presented with Bilateral plantar fascitis, Sleep disorder, Severe fluid retention in legs, Migraines, Obesity, Incontinence, OA and Subclinical hypothyroidism.
 
For three months, her practitioner had been supporting her with bouts of strict dieting (protein leveraging, lower energy/carb). But her weight loss plateued and she became frustrated. A CPAP machine was also added at this time.

Treatment

The following supplements were added:
 
  • RN Labs Medi Metabolic shake at breakfast and lunch 2 days per week
  • 2 RN Labs Berbersorb twice daily
  • 1 RN Labs Inflamasoothe Trio twice daily
  • 1 RN Labs Thyro Fortify twice daily
 
Added RN Labs Mixed Mag Forte at night to help bowel regularity and to aim to reduce movicol
 
Using CPAP 5-6 hours a night now – Daily BP 96-110 on 70-75 to send through recordings for GP to review re Physiotens (BP meds).

Outcome

After 8 weeks it was clear that the patient’s weight had started shifting again. She felt happy with the diet changes they had made and felt confident to continue with them.
 
Other improvements included:

  • Fluid retention improved.
  • Physio measured 10cm loss below knee, 8cm above, 4cm at ankle.
  • Using rehab socks at night.

Prior to starting with this regimen, the patient could not exercise. Now she is very consistent with exercise, walking 5/7, gym 2/7, swimming, regular gardening.
 
TSH improving, blood chemistry all within normal range now, CRP reducing.
 
Overall, the patient feels the MediMetabolic helps her to stay on track with her weight loss goals.
